Do you know a Diamond Champion?

This year, WRVS, the older people’s charity is celebrating Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by launching a search for Diamond Champions, a search to find people over 60 who volunteer and give their time to help others in their community.

We’re delighted to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall have agreed to be joint patrons of our hunt for Diamond Champions in recognition of the important and valuable role played by older people in communities throughout the UK.

“In supporting this Diamond Champions search, we hope that with your help we will be able to find those very special people who give so much to others and yet never ask for anything in return. It is these people who, by their acts of kindness and selfless giving, make a real difference to those less fortunate and who are, we believe, a vital part of what makes the United Kingdom a civilized and caring society.”

What’s a Diamond Champion?

Throughout the United Kingdom we’re lucky to have diamond volunteers all around us. Diamond Champion nominees must be over 60 and the aim is to find volunteers who make an extraordinary difference to their community by giving up their own time to help others. They don’t have to be part of WRVS they can be volunteering for any other organisation or volunteering more informally.

“If you know someone, a big hearted, kind person who is 60 years of age or older who volunteers and goes that extra mile then we want to know who they are!” Phillip Schofield

A regional celebration awaits the shortlisted volunteers who will be presented with a specially designed Diamond Champions badge and certificate. Eighty of the UK’s most glittering nominees will receive a personal invitation to the ultimate Diamond Champion event at a royal residence where they will meet Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.

Nominate your Diamond Champion before 27 July.
